This 23 page download is a Groundhog Day-themed phonological awareness packet with three activities:
Shadow Syllable Sorting: Students will draw cards and determine the
number of syllables in the word on the card.
If the student answers
correctly, they sort the word onto the appropriate mat. Includes 4
sorting mats, 30 groundhog cards, and 6 blank cards.
Groundhog Compound Words:This game is played like Memory. To play, set
the cards out face down. Students will take turns flipping 2 cards over
to see if they form a compound word together. Each hill card will match a
flower card. If they match, keep the cards. If not, flip them back
over, and it’s the next student’s turn!
Winter Groundhog Rhyming: Play like Go Fish! Deal students 5 cards each.
Place the rest of the cards in the center pile. Students will take
turns asking others if they have a card that rhymes with their word. If
the other student does, then the match is laid on the table. If the
other student does not, then the student draws from the center pile.
Whoever has the most matches on the table at the end of the game wins!
You can find this activity in my TpT store.
