St. Patrick's Day Grammar Packet

Need grammar activities for St. Patrick's Day? Look no further! This is a packet just for you! It is a 36 page download with 4 activities and additional game boards.

-Clover Plurals: Students will draw cards and give the plural form of the word-either regular or irregular.  If they answer correctly, they keep their card.

Watch out for special cards! (44 clover cards, 8 special cards, and 4 blank cards)

-St. Patty’s Prepositions: Students will draw cards and complete the sentence with the correct preposition.

If they answer correctly, they place their card on their Blarney Stone mat. Whoever has the most cards at the end wins! (2 sorting mats and 16 cards)

-Rainbow Past and Present Verbs: Students will draw cards and determine if the verb listed is past or present tense. Have students use the verb in a sentence as well.

If they answer correctly, they place their card on the correct mat. Whoever has the most cards at the end wins! (56 rainbow cards, 4 blank cards, and 2 sorting mats)

-Leprechaun Pronouns: Play “Family Feud” style. SLP will read the card aloud.

Students will reach for a large leprechaun card and raise it once they know the answer. Whoever raised their hand first and answers correctly receives a point. Whoever has the most points wins. (21 leprechaun cards, 7 blank cards, 4 cue cards, and 2 large leprechaun cards)

 -Game boards:Get the leprechaun to the rainbow and an open-ended rainbow colored game board with a matching die included. (2 boards and 1 die)

Mad Scientist Conjunctions (Coordinating and Subordinating)

This packet is a 33 page download with a focus on conjunctions (coordinating and subordinating). It also uses 5th grade science vocabulary and concepts. It includes 4 activities.

Test Tubes: Coordinating Conjunctions. Students draw test tube cards and determine which conjunction completes the sentence.

If students answer correctly, they place it on their mats.  Includes 2 student mats, 4 cue cards, 24 test tube cards, and 4 blank cards.

Peeking Pictures: Using Coordinating Conjunctions. In this set, pictures will be hidden underneath conjunction cards. Students will roll a die to determine which conjunction they will use in a sentence. If they use it correctly, they take the conjunction card off of the picture and place it on their mats. Whoever fills their mat and reveals their picture first wins! Includes 1 die, 6 conjunction cards, and 3 pictures.

Beakers: Subordinating Conjunctions. Students will draw beaker cards and determine which conjunction completes the sentence.

Watch out for empty beaker cards! Lose all your cards if you draw one of these. Includes 4 cue cards, 32 beaker cards, 4 blank cards, and 4 special cards.

Microscopes: Using Subordinators. Students place their cards facedown in a pile (without looking at them!). They take turns flipping cards over into the center pile. They flip their card over and use the word in a sentence.

If they flip over a slap card, everyone has to try and slap the pile. Whoever slaps the pile first wins the cards that are in the center. Whoever has the most cards at the end wins! Includes 15 microscope cards and 3 slap cards.

Pirate Language: Quantitative Concepts

Pirates are such a fun theme, especially when it's cute clipart and not mean, scary pirates! This pack is a 17 page download focusing on tough quantitative concepts! The words targeted include all, none, some, if, and except.

Pages 2-11: Pirate Hats: Fill-in-the-blank. Students will draw cards and fill in the blank with the correct quantitative concept.

If the student answers correctly, they keep the cards on their student mats.

Includes 2 student mats, 4 cue cards, 20 hat cards, 4 blank cards, and 4 sword cards.

Pages 12-17: Peeking Pictures: Expressive Language. Print and laminate all cards and pictures. Set the pictures and student mats aside. Do not cut these apart.

Cut out word cards and place on top of pictures.

Students roll a die to determine which word card they remove from the picture.

For each card, the student will use the word in a sentence. If the student uses the word correctly, they remove the word card from the picture and place to the side. This will reveal a portion of the picture.

Pirate High Seas Conjunctions

This fun pirate-themed pack is a 27 page download and includes 3 activities and a conjunction poster. It focuses on coordinating conjunctions (for, and, but, so, yet, or). You can find this activity in my TpT store.

Page 2: Conjunction Poster. Discusses the use of conjunctions for making a compound sentence.

Pages 3-12: Treasure Chests: Coordinating Conjunctions. Each student is given a cue card with the list of conjunctions.

They draw treasure chest cards and choose the correct conjunction to complete the sentence.

If they answer correctly, they place the card on their mat. Whoever has the most cards wins.

Pages 13-21: X Marks the Spot: Correcting Conjunctions. Students will each get a cue card with the list of conjunctions.

They will draw X cards and correct the incorrect conjunction on the card.

If they answer correctly, they move forward one space on the game board.

Pages 22-27: Peeking Pictures: Using Conjunctions. In this set, pictures will be hidden underneath conjunction cards. Students will roll a die to determine which conjunction they will use in a sentence. If they use it correctly, they take the conjunction card off of the picture and place it on their mats. Whoever fills their mat and reveals their picture first wins!

Print and assemble this die.

Print 2 copies of this. Cut up one and use the other as the student mat.

Print pictures but do not cut up. Place the cut up conjunction cards on top of these.

Football Game Day Grammar

Just in time for the bowl games and the Super Bowl! This 32 page download is a football-themed grammar pack!

 It includes 4 different activities:

FOOTBALL IRREGULAR VERB CARDS: Students draw football cards and decide which verb correctly completes the sentence.

If they answer correctly, they place their card on their football field. 

Whoever has the most cards wins! Includes 20 football cards, 4 blank cards, and 2 football fields mats.

PRONOUN PLAYER BINGO: Students draw player cards and decide which pronoun completes the sentence.

If they answer correctly, they place a chip/marker on their bingo board (on the space for that pronoun). Whoever fills their board first wins!

IS/ARE and WAS/WERE HELMETS: Students draw helmet cards and determine which verb completes the sentence (either is/are or was/were).

If they answer correctly, they place that card on the appropriate helmet mat. Whoever has the most cards wins!

Includes 4 helmet mats, 30 helmet cards, and 6 blank cards.

IRREGULAR PLURALS SNACKS: Students draw snack cards and determine what the plural of the word is.

If they answer correctly, they move forward one space on the game board.
